I come to my fascination with Khao-I-Dang and with the new Khao-I-Dang Learning Center from an unusual perspective. Doing research for a novel several years ago, I became interested in the period after the Vietnam War when the region was in a different sort of upheaval – and the center of access to Westerners shifted from Saigon to Bangkok.
